NDC Monitoring Service
S/T Health Group pioneered the practice of contract price integrity verification in 1998, helping hospitals recover previously hidden costs in the pharmaceutical supply chain. Today, our business reflects the ever-growing complexity of the hospital pharmacy market, with an emphasis on consultative services that provide big-picture solutions to procurement and management issues.
Our extensive staff background in the pharmaceutical industry and hospital pharmacy operations gives S/T Health Group a unique perspective on the challenges you face. Our pharmacy and supply chain knowledge and insight is unbeatable; our strong working relationships with all of the major drug wholesalers and manufactures are unmatched.
One of the challenges that we help our clients with is the problem of maintaining an NDC number in the pharmacy information system that reflects the product currently in use. Historically, the NDC number on record in many hospital pharmacy information systems is accurate from a clinical perspective but does not always reflect the specific vendor product currently in inventory in the pharmacy. Updating the NDC number in the hospital pharmacy system is a time consuming task that is often a low priority. However, keeping track of the contemporary NDC number is advantageous for inventory, analysis and reporting purposes.
S/T Health Group’s NDC Monitoring System, which is based on a monthly analysis of pharmacy purchasing data, provides hospital pharmacies with a standardized methodology for identifying the appropriate NDC number to be used in hospital pharmacy information systems. Our system recommends updates as needed to the NDC number listed in the hospital pharmacy system based on the predominant product being purchased for each generic entity reviewed.
NDC MONITORING SERVICE BENEFITS:
- Provides a standardized and repeatable process for NDC maintenance.
- Centralizes the NDC maintenance process so that each hospital director of pharmacy will not have to devote time and resources to searching through purchasing records in order to determine the appropriate NDC number to use.
- Provides charge master quality assurance by confirming if the NDC number on record in the hospital pharmacy system is appropriate for the associated charge master charge code description.
This service provides value by helping hospitals keep the NDC number in computerized systems up to date in order to support more accurate analysis and reporting and more accurate interfaces with the hospital charge master. It provides a standardized and repeatable process that saves valuable pharmacist time that would otherwise be spent on manual review and maintenance.
